      Keep people behind bars and make more money. Perhaps the most fundamental criticism of private prisons is that there is no economic incentive to rehabilitate prison; in fact, the opposite is true – the longer people remain behind bars, the more money the prison companies make. No More Prisons by William Upski seems like a book I would enjoy very much. For one reason, I am an avid fan of hip hop, and the other fact that it was praised by Chuck D makes me highly interested in it. When reading a book, I tend to look at the critical praise for it, and one of the praises states on how it is the greatest hip hop book ever.

    No More Prisons: A Call to Decarcerate Pennsylvania. Governor Corbett is seeking to expand nine existing prisons and build three brand new ones. This plan will add 8, new beds to our state’s already massive prison system, at a cost of more than $ million. No surprise then that the justice committee saw the need for a rigorous examination of more effective ways to cut crime. Justice re-investment would shift the focus of expenditure away from incarceration and towards rehabilitation and prevention. This would involve investment in local education, health, drug, alcohol and community programmes in.
